Marketplace development

A marketplace is two products in one: a place where buyers find what they need and a tool sellers or service providers run their business on. Both sides have to trust the platform before either will use it. Our marketplace development covers both sides and the rules between them — listings, search, bookings, payments, reviews, disputes — for a price fixed in the contract.

Trust is designed, not added later. It comes from fixed checklists and evidence, from payments held until the job is done, from one order lifecycle that every role sees from its own side, and from a log nobody can rewrite when something goes wrong.

We start marketplaces small: one category, one city or one type of deal, with the operations around it run by an admin team. The estimate splits the platform into modules, so the first release carries only what the first transactions need.

Marketplace development

What we build

  • Listings and catalogue

Profiles, listings, filters and search that hold up at the size you expect, with moderation of what sellers publish.

  • Bookings and orders

One lifecycle from request to completion, with statuses every side sees in real time.

  • Payments and payouts

Card payments, money held until the order is completed, platform commission and payouts to sellers.

  • Reviews and disputes

Ratings tied to completed orders, a dispute flow and a log the admin team can rely on.

  • A cabinet for every side

Buyers, sellers or providers and the admin team each get their own cabinet, on the web and in the mobile app.

  • Imports and feeds

Supply pulled in from partners, auctions or existing catalogues, so the marketplace isn’t empty on day one.

How it works

From a brief to an accepted product

The same five steps for every project, whatever we build. You always know what is agreed, what is paid and what is done.

  1. Estimate

Describe the product in your own words, add a link or a file. In about 15 seconds you see the modules, the hours, the timeline and a price.

  2. Team review

Our team reads the brief and the estimate, asks about anything unclear in your cabinet or on a call, and confirms the scope and the price. Nothing starts before that.

  3. Contract

You sign a contract online: a fixed price, the scope split into modules, and a payment schedule — in full or by stages.

  4. Milestones

We build module by module. QA checks each one before it reaches you, and the cabinet shows the work as it moves.

  5. Acceptance

You have 7 days to review each module: accept it or send it back with a list of fixes. Your money stays in the project reserve until you accept.

Three formats

Choose how we build it

The format decides who writes the code and how much engineering review goes into it — and with that, the price and the pace.

  • AI / build

    AI Build

Fastest path · prototypes & internal tools

AI generates the structure and most of the implementation. Engineers review integrations and the release. The lowest cost, for prototypes, internal tools and MVPs that test an idea.

  • AI / engOur pick here

    AI + DEV

    Recommended for most MVPs

AI builds the scaffolding and the obvious parts. Engineers own the architecture, critical logic, integrations and full QA. Balanced pace and review, for customer-facing MVPs and B2B products.

  • full / eng

    DEV

    Maximum quality & control

Senior developers own architecture and implementation end to end. AI is an internal tool for speed, never the final author. For production systems and regulated domains.

A marketplace moves other people’s money, so we recommend AI + DEV for the first release and DEV once volume grows: payments, payouts and disputes need engineers who own every edge case. AI Build fits a clickable prototype for testing demand with a handful of users.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

How much does it cost to build a marketplace?

A marketplace MVP is priced by its modules: catalogue, orders, payments, cabinets, admin. The estimate gives a first price in about 15 seconds; the team review usually cuts the first release down to what the first transactions need, and the contract fixes the price.

How do you solve the chicken-and-egg problem?

With scope rather than code: launch in one niche, bring supply in first — imports, feeds or an admin who onboards sellers by hand — and only then open the platform to buyers. We build the tools for that into the first release.

How do payments between buyers and sellers work?

The buyer pays the platform by card, the money is held until the order is completed or confirmed, and then it is paid out to the seller minus your commission. Refunds and disputes have their own flow and log. We choose the payment provider with you, by your countries and business model.

Does a marketplace need a mobile app?

Not always on day one. A responsive web app is often enough for the first transactions; a mobile app pays off when people come back often — inspectors on the road, buyers following an order. The backend is shared, so the app can be added later.

Can the marketplace grow beyond the MVP?

Yes. Catalogue, orders, payments and cabinets are separate modules with clear boundaries, so new categories, countries or roles are added without a rewrite.

Who owns the platform and its data?

You do. Once the contract is paid in full, the rights to the code pass to you with the source and documentation; the data is yours from the start.
